Learn the Basics of Invisalign Treatment

Many people want to possess a beautiful smile. Crooked or misaligned teeth can lower your confidence, which might prompt you to seek dental procedures to straighten them. For teeth corrections, the traditional solution is metal braces. This could be embarrassing for some people, especially adults. Depending on your individual case, your dentist might suggest an Invisalign treatment. It is a good alternative which saves you some of the inconvenience normal braces create.

Invisalign is a breakthrough in cosmetic dentistry. It is typically clear braces, and can be used for correcting tooth misalignment from overcrowded teeth, overbite, or underbite. Invisalign comes as a set of clear plastic orthodontic trays called aligners, which are fitted to your teeth to straighten them. Unlike braces, which poke the gums, Invisalign is smooth. The aligners are replaced about every two weeks until your treatment is over. Treatment duration, on average, is shorter compared to metal braces, but the cost is typically higher. The amount would depend on the number of aligners and the alignment that your teeth needs.

Your aligners are removable, which makes eating and brushing easy. Wearing traditional braces need extra care when brushing and flossing, and in addition, you will be advised to avoid eating certain foods, especially those that might stick to your braces. Furthermore, you don’t have to worry about metal brackets sticking out of your mouth with Invisalign; although it isn’t wholly invisible, it won’t make you appear like you’re undergoing teeth straightening at all.

This particular solution, however, isn’t ideal for all situations, especially in severe dental cases like large overbites. It is in your best benefit to secure the services of a good dentist to guide you towards the proper course of action to take. Dr. Sonia Rocha, and her team at Tower Dental Arts, can help determine if Invisalign is a viable option for your situation. Enjoy Holiday Season Wearing your Best Dentures

The holiday season is mostly about family gatherings, and when there are family gatherings, there’s food. It would be satisfying to enjoy a roast turkey and Christmas ham while watching your children or grandchildren all together at the table, but with an incomplete set of teeth, would you be able to enjoy your dinner properly? Of course, you’d be opting for measures such as dental dentures, but wearing them could be challenging, especially if they don’t fit you well. It is necessary that you secure a good set so that you can dine on your upcoming holiday treats without complications.

If you’re thinking about getting dentures, you need to consult a dentist first. This dental professional would be the one to decide the proper course of action to take. You might be needing dentures or implants depending on your remaining teeth. The dentist will conduct a thorough examination of your mouth and might have to extract some teeth that need to be removed.

You’d most probably be given dentures if most of your teeth are gone. After your dentist decides that dentures are more appropriate, he/she will have to take impressions of your gums to create a set that is well-suited for you. While waiting for your permanent dentures, you may opt to wear “immediate” dentures. For a better fit, these immediate dentures would have to be readjusted from time to time. You may use denture adhesives to secure your dentures but make sure to read the directions of any product carefully before use.

It is normal to feel odd when wearing dentures for the first time. Once your mouth gets used to it, however, you can go back to eating and speaking like you did before. Visit your dentist regularly to ensure that your dentures are still in good condition.

Take care of your dentures so that they can last for a long time. Brush them to remove residual food and plaque and place them in a denture-cleaning solution or plain water for storage to prevent them from drying out. Your dentures are delicate and must be handled properly to avoid damage.

Dental dentures help restore your self-confidence and smile. With the proper set, you won’t have to worry about your teeth falling off in front of your guests. Dr. Sonia Rocha of Tower Dental Arts is a caring, experienced dentist who can provide you expert dental service with the latest technology available. Best Dental Advice for 2018

Have you planned out your New Year’s resolution yet? Whether it’s about signing up for a gym membership, dieting, or finally moving on from a heartbreak, writing down tasks you want to start the coming year with almost always involves the things you’d like to improve about yourself. Why not add something that would make your teeth and gums happy this time?

Here is some of the best dental advice you can add to your ever-increasing list for 2018.

·         Buy a new toothbrush. Why not try celebrating the coming year with a new toothbrush? Experts from the American Dental Association (ADA) recommend changing your toothbrush every three to four months. Replace them sooner if the bristles are already frayed; worn bristles cannot clean your teeth thoroughly. There are a variety of manual and electric toothbrushes on the market that you can choose from.
·         Brush your teeth at least twice a day. Brushing twice daily helps in removing bacterial plaque and contributes to bad breath prevention and healthier teeth. Dentists recommend brushing your teeth for at least two minutes. Use fluoridated toothpaste to help prevent cavities.
·         Floss daily. Some people find flossing unnecessary, but it is actually important for good dental hygiene, aside from brushing. Flossing is used to remove plaque in the areas between your teeth, which cannot be reached by a toothbrush. It is better to floss your teeth before you brush them, since toothpaste could easily get into the spaces in between your teeth. Flossing and brushing should always come together for more satisfactory mouth cleaning. ·
·         Use mouthwash. Gum disease and cavities are caused by bacteria contained in plaque. Mouthwash could help get rid of these harmful bacteria and strengthen the teeth. ·
·         Consume less sugar. Our teeth are damaged by acids in the mouth that is produced by sugar from what we eat. If you are fond of drinking soft drinks, energy drinks, and other beverages as well as food that contain high sugar content, maybe it’s about time you cut down some of them from your diet to help prevent tooth decay. ·
·         Quit smoking. Tobacco usage causes dental disorders which range from stained teeth and bad breath to tooth loss and mouth cancer, and could bring diseases to the other parts of the body as well. If you’ve been planning to quit smoking for years, it is advisable that you carry out that plan now. Your body will thank you for it. ·

·         Pay your dentist a visit. Regular dental check-ups are important so that you could be aware of any existing oral problems that you might have. Visit your dentist every six months to be updated about the status of your dental health and to keep your mouth healthy.

Following the tips listed above is probably the best step that you can take to keep your smile shining for the rest of the coming year. Finding a dentist that could cater your needs and that of your family is an essential thing that you can work on at the moment. Zoom Whitening-An effective Teeth Whitening Treatment

Our teeth are naturally white because of the dentin present in our teeth. However, years of wear and tear can make our teeth discolored. Dark-coloured drinks are one of the causes of stain on our teeth thus making them dull and yellowish in color. The discoloration, for most people, is embarrassing especially since people often interpret as the cause of improper teeth hygiene. However, this issue is not new to cosmetic dentistry. Through a teeth whitening treatment, you can have your pearly white smile again.

At Tower Dental Arts, with Dr. Sonia Rocha, your stained and discolored teeth will transform into a pearly white smile to be your most beautiful asset. You can have what they called as killer smile. We are available in areas near Bonita Springs, Naples, Fort Myers, and Lehigh Acres.

Teeth whitening is becoming more and more popular these days. People from different age groups are opting for this procedure. Dr. Sonia Rocha of Tower Dental Arts offers different teeth whitening methods. One of these methods that we are most proud of is the Zoom Whitening.

What is Zoom Whitening?

Zoom whitening is a bleach process which helps lighten any discoloration of the enamel and dentin on the teeth using the Zoom hydrogen peroxide gel. This is done with the help of a Zoom light or the Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp which helps accelerate the bleaching process by activating the hydrogen peroxide whitening.  The hydrogen peroxide will be broken down with this process, and then the oxygen will enter the enamel and dentin allowing the bleaching of the stains.

How Does it Works?

The procedure will last for about an hour.  Prior to the treatment, the patient should undergo a full mouth cleaning.

Zoom whitening may or may not be compatible for some. To make sure that Zoom whitening is right for you, Dr. Rocha, together with her team, will have both of your lower and upper teeth comprehensively examined. Your gums will also have to be healthy enough in order to start the dental treatment. This is not recommended to patients who have poor oral health.

When everything is ready, the Zoom hydrogen peroxide gel is applied to the teeth while the lips and gums are covered. Then, the gel and the light will work together to break up the stains. The gel will remain for about 15 minutes. This should be done three times in 45 minutes. After every 15 minutes, the gel will be removed and then re-applied until the process is complete.

Lastly, a fluoride paste-gel is applied to teeth to counter any reactions to the bleach.
Sensitivity during and after the procedure may be possible. If this happens, Dr. Sonia Rocha can give you some anti-sensitivity toothpaste. However, this would not be allowed for some such as children under 13 years old and lactating or pregnant women.

Porcelain Veneers for All Teeth Imperfections

A smile can attract anyone’s attention. Like in some romantic movies we have seen, the heroine’s or hero’s smile is one of the reasons why other characters fall in love with her or him. It is true with the real life as well. Wherever we are, the first thing that people will notice about us is our smile. For some with beautiful smile, it became their asset and calls it as their killer smile. However, not all of us have a perfect smile.

Through years, our teeth may have incurred a lot of damage such as decay and chipping. The imperfections of our teeth such as gaps and uneven shapes and sizes are also the reason for having an awkward smile. You are probably thinking of having a one or two dental treatment in order to solve these imperfections however, there is only one answer to all of these teeth imperfections. Dental veneers can do wonders to your teeth. It is now more popular as replacement for dental crowns for fixing the gaps, reshaping tooth for better alignment, and for chipping tooth.

What is Veneers?

Veneers are wafer-thin, custom made shells used cover the front surface of teeth. It can be made from porcelain or from resin composite materials.

Compared to crowns, veneers or porcelain veneers involve a less uncomfortable procedure and requires fewer teeth to be removed.

The professional cosmetic dentistry practices of Dr. Sonia Rocha at Tower Dental Arts combined with technology and advanced materials are excellent in providing with everything you need for a brighter smile.

Porcelain veneers requires at least two visits to the dentist. During your first visit, the dentist will examine your teeth to make sure that the veneers is the right choice for you as you discuss the outcome that you want to achieve.

The preparation includes the trimming of the tooth. About a half millimetre of enamel, which equals the thickness of the veneers, will be shaved from your tooth. This is done so that the tooth will not appear as thicker compared to other teeth. Local anesthesia will be administered first before the trimming process. Then, a model will be made to match your tooth. The model will be used in shaping the veneer. This would take 2 to 3 weeks until it is ready.

If the veneer is done, the dentist will repeatedly shape it until it becomes a perfect fit to your tooth. After your tooth has been cleaned, the porcelain veneer will be bonded to your teeth giving you a perfect smile that you deserve.

Dentures
When we have some tooth missing, it makes us look older than our actual age. Thus, to look young and feel young at the same time, replacing our lost teeth is the only option. One method of tooth replacement is through dentures. There are two types of dentures available; partial dentures and complete dentures.
Partial dentures are commonly used when some of the teeth are still in place and these teeth are used to hold the dentures. These can be place permanently fixed by cementing them on place.
On the other hand, complete dentures are used when there are no more teeth left thus giving you back all the teeth you have lost. Unlike partial dentures, these are removable to allow adjustments to fit in your mouth and gums.
